Vembadi Prize Giving and Founder’s Day 2019

“Vembadi Girls’ High School is the leading girls’ school in the North. This school has contributed much for the upliftment of education in the North for more than two centuries. It has produced distinguished old girls in many fields in Sri Lanka. You, teachers, parents and students (present and past) can be proud of the achievements of Vembadi,” thus said the Chief Guest Mr. Sambantamoorthy Sutharsan (Divisional Secretary, Jaffna) when he addressed the audience at Vembadi’s annual Prize Giving and Founder’s Day held on June 29, 2019 in the school hall. He further said that the children here were fortunate to be students of this school and congratulated them too.

Earlier the chief guests, Mr. Sutharsan and Mrs. Pathmapriya Sutharsan (Old girls and teacher of Jaffna Hindu Ladies’ College) were received at the school gate by the principal Ms. Sumathy Kanthasamy, teachers, parents and representatives. The function started with prayers followed by the School Song. Then the chief guest delivered his prize day address. He thanked the principal and teachers for inviting him and his wife as chief guests. In his speech, he praised the old girls for their support to their Alma Mater, in providing facilities to develop education and the personality of the students. He said that the old girls also helped needy children and he appreciated the part that they play in school. Ms. Pathmapriya distributed the prizes. Finally the function ended with a vote of thanks by the President of the Old Girls’ Association (Colombo Branch).
