Malaysian Airplane disappearance – four years of searching

Friday, 21 September 2018

Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 departed from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing on March 8, 2014. It lost all contact within an hour after take-off and completely disappeared.

Search parties investigated all around the South China Sea. Later, evidence proved that the plane had diverted
south and the search turned to the Indian Ocean. A large piece of debris from the plane washed up in Reunion,
an island near Africa.

National governments continued the search for three years before stopping the search. Why the plane disappeared is a mystery. It is assumed that the plane crashed into the ocean.

Some people believe that the pilot crashed the plane deliberately but there is no proof. There were 239 people on board the flight — passengers and crew — and their relatives are still pushing for a search to go forward and they protested against ending the official search.

However, Malaysia signed a deal with a private company to continue the search last year. Ocean Infinity has searched all along the seabed where the plane was last contacted, using various equipment but they have found nothing. As the weather conditions in the area prevent further search, they too have dropped the hunt.

Soon the plane will be nothing but history to the world. But those who had loved ones on board will never stop searching.
