My favourite animals
My favourite animal is the golden eagle. They are my favourite animals because I wish that I could fly high in the sky like them. They can be very pretty too with golden-brown feathers on their necks and the back of their heads.
Golden eagles are not from where I live but I’ve seen them in animal books. They live in North America, North Asia, North Africa and North Europe but not in Sri Lanka. I like them even though they are raptors. They swoop down on hares, rabbits and squirrels. They live on mountains and cliff-tops. Did you know that they mate for life? I like that too.

One of my favourite toys as a kid
I had several kinds of toys when I was a kid. I enjoyed playing with each and every one of them but there was one toy which I loved to play with the most. It was my ‘Frozen’ Olaf Doll. Now all girls love ‘Frozen’ right? I loved it the most and my favourite character was Olaf.
That is why I admired him. He was not just any ordinary doll. He could do everything. Olaf was like a little brother to me though he was not real. He could even eat anything I fed him! Most of the time, I just gave him water because my mother thought I made a huge mess. Olaf could even talk and also change the way his eyes looked!
My cousins thought I was a baby to play with a doll but you cannot stop anything a kid loves to do right? I still enjoy playing with Olaf! He has grown old and one of his arms are broken, but he will still be the best toy a kid like me could have!

Flying to outer space and discovering a new planet
“Hey, wake up,” someone was knocking on my door.
“What?” I said sleepily.
“You’re going to be late. We’re almost there,” I now recognized the voice to be my brother’s.
“What are you,” I started to yell. Then suddenly I remembered and ran to the window and saw thousands of stars gleaming close by.
Yes, it was happening, we were going to Mars. And I was inside the rocket ‘Hope 2’.
I dressed as quickly as possible and when I looked in the mirror, a girl of 14, in neat clothes looked back at me. I raced out to where my mom, dad and my brother were waiting.
“Okay, we’ve landed,” Dad said pressing a green button on the wall. The wall parted sideways like a sliding glass and an airport run by aliens came into my view. One purple alien came up to dad and started speaking in a different language.
“Sorry?” Dad asked.
“Oh English,” said the alien and took something out of its pocket and swallowed it.
“Welcome to Mard Marova,” it said.
“Mard Marova,” Dad asked puzzled.
The alien nodded.
A grin spread across dad’s face, “You mean we found another planet?”
I went and peeked from a window and saw a spectacular view. Three moons were hanging from the sky, which gave the planet a bluish glow. The buildings had a grass coating around them and plants were also growing from them.
I couldn’t wait to go back and tell everyone that we had found a new planet.
