A fun visit to the zoo
On Sunday June 23rd, I went to the Dehiwala zoo with my parents and brothers. Shortly after we had breakfast, we went in our uncle’s car. After a long journey we arrived at the Dehiwala zoo. My father went to buy tickets for us. I couldn’t wait to see what was inside.
First we went to see the aquarium. I saw many known and unknown sea creatures. I felt a little scared of some fish but my mother said to be brave and from that moment on I was not scared anymore. Next we saw the beautiful birds. Some of them are from our own country whereas some were foreign. I saw many birds, large and small. The most beautiful of the birds was the peacock. The birds of prey like eagles and Brahmin kite and the Australian emu all looked pretty amazing.
Later we were very tired and ate ice-cream next to the chimpanzee cage. The scariest moment in the zoo was when I saw a real lion and a real tiger for the first time. The lions were not as frightening as they were resting but a sudden roar mane me afraid. The tiger was roaring and snarling. I think it wanted to get out of its cage but the cage was very strong. We also saw giraffes, water-loving bears, enormous elephants, apes and many more animals. We planned to watch the elephant show but my father said we can’t go so we came back home. It was an amazing and interesting journey but the only we didn’t like in the zoo was that the animals were caged and not in their natural habitat.

A famous person I admire
There are many people in this world who have gained recognition and fame for various aspects in life. But not every famous person gains admiration from all fellow global citizens. A famous person who I admire is Barack Obama.
Barack Obama was an American attorney and politician who served as the 44th President of the United States of America from 2009 to 2017. He was the first African American to be elected to the presidency in the US.
Obama was born on August 4, 1961 to Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Ann Dunham in Honolulu, Hawaii. Although born black, he was nevertheless successful in achieving high positions in society.
He was a very gifted orator and writer whose powerful speeches were inspiring to young and old alike. He was also was well known for speaking with purpose and vision.
Obama married Michelle in 1992 and they have two daughters, Malia and Sasha. Although he was the president of the most powerful country in the world, he lived his life in simplicity. He could be hilarious at time making people laugh at his jokes.
He was 47 years when he was inaugurated as president. He belonged to the Democratic Party. Obama achieved more recognition when he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and the Profile in Courage Award. He showed exceptional leadership qualities which resulted in him being the most powerful president in the world.
Barack Obama may not be a powerful president any more but he will always be that exceptional and inspiring leader in the hearts of many people globally.
